How to Become a Home Inspector in New Jersey

  • Complete Education.

    You must have earned a high school diploma or a GED.

  • Complete Classroom Training.

    You must complete 140 hours of approved classroom home inspector training.

  • Complete Field Training.

    You must complete 40 hours of approved field home inspector training.

  • Take the NHIE.

    Pass the NHIE (National Home Inspectors Exam).

  • Get Liability Insurance.

    Obtain E&O and Liability insurance - Check out our home inspector's insurance page!
